  • What is the general overall scope of Cornerstone’s small groups?

    Cornerstone has a variety of groups in size, type, location and topic.  They include groups for men and women, young adults, singles and couples, support groups, shared interests, Freedom, General Bible studies, parenting and prayer.  Some meet weekly, some monthly, mostly in person but a few online, but all desire to grow closer to God and with others.

  • How do I join a group?

    This is the simple part.  Just click on the Find a Group tab, look at the groups open, and choose a type of group and read the description, and Click “Request to Join”  The group leader will get in contact with you.  That’s it!

  • What types of groups do you have?

    • Weekly Small Groups are groups that meet weekly on campus and off campus.  Many meet in semesters, February through April, and August through November. Groups are encouraged to continue to next semester.
    • Monthly home groups meet every month at various homes in the area. These groups have a meal together, share fellowship, devotions and prayer.  They have no beginning or ending schedule.
    • Support Groups are groups that meet to help those facing difficult circumstances.  They include James Gang: a 12step group, Divorce Care and Grief Share.  
    • Dinner for 8 Groups meet monthly during the summer months of June, July and August to provide opportunity for building relationships, especially for those newer to Cornerstone.
  • How long does a small group last?

    Groups length varies with the type of group.  Some Monthly Home groups have no end date, many weekly groups meet by semester, others meet without an end date in mind.  Check each group's description for specific information.

  • What about my kids?

    All groups that meet on campus on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights have ministry geared for children and youth.  Other groups allow children, contact the group leader for that information.

  • How are small groups formed?

    Many groups start in late August or early February at Group Connect for a semester, however, groups can start anytime a leader senses a need and finds people to join.

  • Where do groups meet?

    Groups can meet in homes, restaurants, work spaces or at Cornerstone.

  • Where can I get support as a group leader?

    Group leaders can go to www………..Still have to get an address)  to get resources from the small groups ministry, updated information and lists of small group materials approved for use.  You can always contact the groups ministry at groups@cornerstoneathens.cc.
